RAV Vast Drum G Pygmy is a melodic metal instrument with a central bass tone and eight melodic tones. The G Pygmy tuning has a deeper, calm, and meditative character. The tones harmonize beautifully, so the tuning naturally leads to fluid, intuitive playing. At the same time, it is not just an instrument for slow playing. RAV Vast sensitively reacts to touch and also allows for rhythmic motifs, accents, and more expressive dynamics. You can intuitively sound it, search for your own motifs, and gradually develop a feel for touch, rhythm, and melodic phrasing.

RAV Vast was developed by Andrey Remyannikov as an instrument inspired by the handpan, but with its own unique construction and distinct sound. Thanks to the cut-out tones and internal metal ribs, it has long reverberation and rich overtones.

It is played primarily with the hands - fingers, fingertips, or palms. The instrument has a brass edge and a protective surface finish that helps protect the metal from moisture. A transport bag can be purchased separately.

How to play the instrument

Place the RAV Vast in front of you or on your lap and sound the tones with your hands. A light touch lets the tone fade for a long time; a stronger strike creates a brighter accent and rhythmic support.

The G Pygmy tuning is well suited for slower, meditative playing, but it also allows for rhythmic motifs, accents, and more expressive dynamics. You can also sound overtones on individual tones, which expand the instrument's tonal color.
