INTERESTING FACTS
The end-blown flute (koncovka) is a traditional Slovak folk musical instrument, classified as a wind instrument. It is made from a single piece of wood, usually without holes, which gives it its distinctive sound. The player changes the pitch by controlling their breath and gently moving their lips. The koncovka is associated with shepherding traditions, and its sound is melodic and soothing, often used for meditation or as part of folk songs and rituals in the mountainous regions of Slovakia and the Carpathians.
