RAV Vast Drum E Low Pygmy is a melodic metal instrument with a central bass tone and eight melodic tones. The E Low Pygmy tuning is one of the deepest RAV Vast tunings. It has a distinct deep tonal foundation, long reverberation, and a calm, meditative character. The tones harmonize beautifully, and the tuning is excellent for slower melodic playing, meditation, relaxation, and gentle musical accompaniment. At the same time, it also allows for rhythmic motifs, accents, and more expressive dynamics.

RAV Vast was developed by Andrey Remyannikov as an instrument inspired by the handpan, but with its own unique construction and distinct sound. The tones are cut into the body of the instrument and supplemented with metal ribs inside, which support long resonance and rich overtones.

It is played primarily with the hands - fingers, fingertips, or palms. You can intuitively sound the instrument, search for your own melodic and rhythmic motifs, and gradually develop a feel for touch, rhythm, and dynamics.

The instrument has a brass edge and a protective finish that helps protect the metal from moisture. A transport bag can be purchased separately.

How to play the instrument

Place the RAV Vast in front of you or on your lap and sound the tones with your hands. The deeper E Low Pygmy tuning is well suited for slower playing, long reverberations, gentle dynamic changes, and more expressive rhythmic motifs.

You can change the color and strength of the tone using different methods of touch. Overtones, which expand the instrument's sound possibilities, can also be sounded on individual tones.
