Description

Moon handpan | F2 Pygmy 8+1 tuning | stainless steel

The Moon Handpan tuned in F2 Pygmy 8+1 enchants you with a deep, velvety bass that resounds through the entire space. The low ding in the note F2 gives the playing a solid foundation, above which dreamy minor melodies gently arch. Stainless steel gives it full resonance and a long sustain, in which notes naturally blend together.

  • Suitable for: lovers of deep sound, meditation, relaxation, and music therapy
  • Design: Lacquered stainless steel finish

On the top side, you will find eight notes in a classic layout around the central ding. The F2 ding sounds an entire octave lower than the lowest note along the perimeter, so every touch of the center of the instrument feels like a deep, calm exhale. A range of over two octaves offers plenty of space for melodies and expressive bass accents.

The Pygmy minor tuning fits beautifully with meditative playing, slow dreamy improvisation, and accompanying yoga, relaxation, or sound baths. Thanks to the low ding, it feels even calmer and more intimate.

How to play the handpan

You do not need mallets for the handpan, gentle finger touches are enough. You sound the ding in the middle with your thumb or the pads of your fingers, and the notes around the perimeter come alive under your index or middle finger. By the strength and sensitivity of your touch, you determine the volume and timbre of the sound yourself.

The 8+1 layout is clear and intuitive, so you will quickly orient yourself in the instrument even without previous musical experience. If you want to start step by step, Pavel Sedláček will guide you through it in the online course Handpan Academy.

The handpan has eight notes arranged around the perimeter and one central note, the ding. It is a classic layout that is clear and easy to play.

Is the F2 Pygmy handpan suitable for beginners?
Yes. The notes of the Pygmy tuning naturally harmonize with each other, so melodies flow easily even if you are just starting out. At the same time, it offers plenty of space for advanced players.
