Interesting facts

Handpan, also known as Pantam or Hang drum is a musical instrument whose roots date back to the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. At that time, the first attempts at melodic instruments made of metal (barrels and metal containers) began to appear in the Trinidad and Indonesian regions - where the name "steeldrum" became established. These instruments had multiple notes around the perimeter tuned to various scales and were mostly played with mallets.

The first instruments in the form of today's handpan appeared around 2000 in Switzerland - developed by the Panart company and the instrument was named Hang or Hang drum ("hang" means "hand" in the Swiss dialect). However, Panart has long since stopped producing these instruments and dozens of other manufacturers of these instruments have gradually appeared since then.

Handpan is an instrument that you can enjoy at home by yourself and which can also be played at a top virtuoso concert level, combined with other instruments, other handpans, etc. Learning to play the handpan begins with basic tone production techniques and their combinations, elementary rhythmic structures and continues with more advanced techniques, more complex rhythmic structures and also the possibilities of creative improvisation. You can learn all of this with us during lessons with Pavel Sedláček.

Savita Handpans are our own instruments, into which we have projected the best we know in the field of handpans: a wonderful sound, beautiful design and of course a favorable price.
