How to Play and Choose a Water Bowl (Aquarian Bell)
The water bowl (Aquarian bell) is sounded with wet hands. Moisten your palms and rub them evenly against both handles on the sides of the bowl. After a moment, the metal begins to resonate, the tone gradually intensifies, and the water inside begins to react to the resulting vibrations.
Playing requires a little patience and sensitivity in your hands. The key is even rubbing, sufficiently moist palms, and calm movement. Once the bowl begins to ring out, you can watch waves, regular patterns, and, with a stronger tone, even bouncing water droplets form on the surface.
We offer two sizes of water bowls. The smaller bowl has a diameter of 39 cm and is more practical for placement and carrying. The larger bowl holds more water and has a deeper, fuller, and more powerful sound. Both variants follow the same playing principle and both connect a long metallic resonance with the movement of water.
With every water bowl, we include an original towel, as water is a natural part of playing. For both sizes, you will find videos showing how to sound the instrument as well as the movement of water during play.
You can choose based on size, sound depth, and overall impression. You are also welcome to come try the water bowls in person at our showroom in Jablonec nad Nisou.
