INTERESTING FACTS
Handpan, also known as Pantam or Hang drum is a musical instrument whose roots go back to the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. At that time, the first attempts at melodic instruments made of metal (barrels and metal containers) began to appear in the area of Trinidad and Indonesia - which became known as "steeldrum". These instruments had multiple tones tuned to different scales around the perimeter and were usually played with mallets.
The first instruments similar to today's handpan appeared around 2000 in Switzerland - they were developed by the company Panart and the instrument was named Hang or Hang drum ("hang" means "hand" in Swiss dialect). However, Panart has long since stopped producing these instruments, and dozens of other manufacturers of these instruments have gradually appeared since then.
Handpan is an instrument that you can enjoy at home by yourself and at the same time it is possible to play it at a top virtuoso concert level, combine it with other instruments, other handpans, etc. Learning to play the handpan begins with basic techniques of tone creation and their combination, elementary rhythmic structures, and continues with more advanced techniques, more complex rhythmic structures, and also possibilities of creative improvisation. You can learn all this with us during lessons with Pavel Sedláček.
Savita Handpans are our own instruments, into which we have projected the best of what we know in the field of handpans: beautiful sound, beautiful design and of course a favorable price.
