ABOUT THE INSTRUMENT
This Kenkeni, featuring a natural skin and a tunable design, belongs to a set of traditional West African drums named "Dundun," "Dunun," or "Dun dun." It is a double-sided, cylindrical, bass drum made from treated, recycled wood. This type of percussion holds traditional significance especially among the Mande peoples in countries such as Mali, Guinea, and the Ivory Coast.
