Elder wood is one of the traditional materials used for making flutes for centuries. In addition to its excellent resonant properties, it is also valued for its symbolic significance - elder has been considered a sacred tree with purifying and protective powers since ancient times. Double flutes appear in archaeological finds from various cultures around the world since antiquity. They represent one of the oldest types of musical instruments, originating from a simple shepherd's pipe. In ancient Greece, the double aulos was very popular, in Egypt, double clarinets called zummara were used, and in India, the alghoza. The duality of these instruments has, besides its practical musical significance, a symbolic dimension - in many cultures, it represents the harmonious union of opposites, such as the masculine and feminine principles.
