Description
Decorated Tibetan Singing Bowl 4110 g | 35 cm | Avalokiteshvara
A decorated Tibetan singing bowl weighing 4110 g with a diameter of 35 cm, with a beautiful, gentle tone that you can listen to in our sound sample. This exceptionally large and heavy bowl has a powerful, majestic presence and stands out with rich traditional ornamentation. The interior is dominated by a finely engraved figure of the multi-armed Buddha (Avalokiteshvara) surrounded by ornaments and protective motifs, while the upper rim is adorned with Tibetan mantras and symbols carrying deep spiritual meaning.
The Meaning of the Symbols on This Bowl
This Tibetan bowl is a true artistic and spiritual artifact – its inner space is decorated with delicately engraved motifs that carry profound meaning from Buddhist and Tibetan tradition. Their power lies not only in their aesthetic impression, but especially in their influence on consciousness, space, and inner balance.
-
Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig) — the dominant central figure of the bowl is Avalokiteshvara, the bodhisattva of compassion, also known by his Tibetan name Chenrezig. This form with many arms represents his ability to perceive the suffering of all beings while acting in many directions at once. His presence on the bowl symbolizes unconditional compassion, protection, and spiritual guidance.
The mantra OM MANI PADME HUM — around the circumference of the bowl are engraved the syllables of this most famous Tibetan mantra, which is closely associated with Avalokiteshvara. Each syllable has its own meaning and affects a different aspect of being:
-
OM – purifies the body
-
MA – purifies speech
-
NI – purifies the mind
-
PAD – purifies ignorance
-
ME – purifies desire and attachment
-
HUM – anchors wisdom and compassion in action
This mantra brings protection, harmony, and spiritual clarity.
-
Mandalas and temple gates — the syllables are placed within a motif reminiscent of a mandala or temple gate – a symbol of the spiritual path inward. These patterns represent both the process of contemplation and entry into deeper levels of consciousness.
-
Symbols of abundance, healing, and spiritual protection — around the bowl you can also find other traditional Tibetan motifs, such as stylized flames (transformation), lotus flowers (purity), waves (flow), and the motif of two snakes entwined around a staff – known in both Eastern and Western traditions as a symbol of healing, harmony of polarities, and the flow of life energy (similar to the caduceus or the kundalini symbol).

You can sound the bowl with a gentle strike of a mallet or by smoothly circling the rim. The sound gradually unfolds into rich vibrations that naturally spread through space and the body.
