The koncovka is a traditional Slovak folk musical instrument that belongs to the category of wind instruments. It is made from a single piece of wood, usually without holes, which gives it its characteristic sound. The player changes the pitch of the tones using breath and subtle movement of the lips. The koncovka is associated with shepherd traditions and its sound is melodic and soothing, often used during meditation or as part of folk songs and rituals in the mountainous regions of Slovakia and the Carpathians.
